Mexican milk company enters Guatemala

The Lala Industrial Milk Group from Mexico announced yesterday that it is entering the local market, after buying out the Foremost Guatemalan company last April.

In two months their product should be available countrywide in stores and supermarkets, said Eduardo Patrón, director of marketing for the Mexican transnational company.

The Lala products will be imported from Mexico, while they continue to produce Foremost products locally.

The Mexican company Lala plans to invest $14 million in the expansion of its plant in Alajuela and to start selling milk and ice cream in the Costa Rican market, starting from 2018.

In regards to how to prepare for the next market opening, José Antonio Madriz, President of the National Chamber of Milk Producers, told Nacion.com that there still remains work to be done, and that they "... have approached the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) several times, as lead agency, to establish joint plans between the private sector, government, universities and other research centers, but the result is insufficient."

Dairy Industry: Grupo Lala Brands in USA

The Mexican company Lala has announced that it is in the process of acquiring brands belonging to the company Laguna Dairy in the U.S., amounting to $246 million.

Mexico City, May 30, 2016 - Grupo LALA, SAB de CV (BMV: LALA B) ( "Grupo LALA"), a Mexican company focused on the health food industry, announces that it is in the process of acquisition of certain businesses assets related to the brands Laguna Dairy, S. de RL de CV ("Laguna Dairy"), in the United States (the "Business Brands") for an amount of US $246mm, in a transaction to be settled with its own equity.

Dairy: Grupo Lala Buys Eskimo in Nicaragua

December 2014

The Mexican group has announced an agreement to acquire all the assets of Eskimo and its subsidiaries in Nicaragua and the rest of Central America, without disclosing the amount of the transaction.

Eskimo SA is a food company in Nicaragua which has been operating for more than 72 years.
