Metro Plan in El Salvador

The proposal to build a fast train to solve transportation problems is considered viable by different sectors.

Rodrigo Avila of the Arena party said they are preparing groundwork for bidding on the fast train project, which will require state and private investment.

Elsalvador.com reports, "According to Avila ... will install a committee made of technicians and experts in the field to discuss financing and infrastructure to kick-start the project. He said the project contemplated a sky train with two lanes, similar to the one at the U.S. city of Miami.”

Japan To Finance the Metro in Panama

The government of Japan said that it is interested in providing financing for the mega project of a Panamanian subway train.

The special envoy of the emperor of Japan, Masatoshi Wakabayashi, expressed the interest of his government to finance the metro during a meeting with President Ricardo Martinelli.

Guatemala to get a metro system by 2012

Guatemala's vice president, Rafael Espada, says one of the main transport reorganization projects in Guatemala City will be to construct a metro system in the capital.

He said that the project is part of an overall plan, but added that he hopes it can be carried out before the administration of President Álvaro Colom ends in 2012.

Saca says Taiwan shows interest in San Salvador subway

President Antonio Saca of El Salvador said that the Taiwanese government could sponsor a study of the feasibility of a subway for San Salvador.

Saca is currently visiting Taiwan where he visited the operations center of the Taipei subway system.
