Sheep and Goat Market in Costa Rica

Costa Rican producers of sheep and goats are joining forces to spur growth in demand for milk, meat, cheese and yogurt from these species.

Sheep: Producers join forces to increase demand

I Central American Congress will be held on 13, 14 and 15 November at the headquarters of Sede de Balsa de Atenas at the National Technical University

Costa Rica has 4140 farms which raise sheep and goats

Flock amounts to 48,652 animals

San Jose, Costa Rica, October 25, 2015. Costa Rican producers of sheep and goats are joining forces to spur growth in demand for products (milk, meat, cheese, yogurt and others) prepared based on these small ruminants whose national herd totals almost 50,000 animals.

The first step towards developing this new niche market materialized with the organization of the First Central American Congress of Producers of sheep and goats which will be held on 13, 14 and 15 November at the headquarters of Balsa de Atenas (Alajuela) at the National Technical University (NTU-Atenas).
