McCormick Invests $2 Million in El Salvador

The producer of spices and condiments invested in improving its industrial facility.

The resources were used for enhancing the plant, upgrading computer systems and building a residual water treatment facility, said Arduino Bianchi, president of McCormick Central America.

"Between 80 and 100 products are manufactured in El Salvador. They increase to 250 with the different packages. Some 80% is sold in Central America", published Laprensagrafica.com.

$27 million for Steel Plant in Guatemala

With an investment of $27 million, International Ternium has modernized and expanded its steel plant in Villa Nueva.

According to company president, Hector Obeso, "The challenge is that all Central American roofs be manufactured from sheet metal from Guatemala".

The modernization of the International Ternium will allow production capacity to increase by 35%.

Nutresa Increases Investment in Costa Rica

The Colombian group Nutresa will invest $3.4 million in improvements at its plants "Galletas Pozuelo" (cookies) and "Compañía Nacional de Chocolates" (chocolate).

The group has earmarked some $16 million for infrastructure since their arrival in Costa Rica in 2004 when it acquired the plant from the multinational Nestle.

Kimberly Clark Expands in the Region

The multinational has made projections for a 2012 expansion and modernization of its plant in El Salvador.

Without giving exact figures, Antonio Caicedo, vice president for Central America and the Caribbean, announced the investment. As part of its expansion plan the company has acquired land near the plant currently operating in Sito del Niño, San Juan Opico.

Actex Upgrades its Production Facility

September 2009

The Guatemalan clothing label manufacturer will invest $500.000 in machinery and equipment, and will hire an additional 50 to 80 employees.

This investment by 'Accesorios Textiles' (Actex), is geared to serve an agreement signed with textile company Denimatrix. For it, Actex will produce identification labels for Denimatrix's jean production.
