Logistics Projects Being Built in Central America

A marine cargo dock and two office warehouse complexes, and expansion of storage in a maritime terminal, are some of the projects planned for the coming months.

The information system "Construction Projects in Central America", by the Business Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData, provides an up to date list of construction projects for which environmental impact assessment (EIA) studies were presented to the appropriate authorities in each country in November 2016.

Details of some of the projects: 

The Maritime Authority of Panama submitted an EIA to build, on the Amador Causeway in Ancon, province of Panama, a fixed pier in a "T" shape with a trading platform with land connection with a maximum load capacity of eight (8) tons. The project is called "La Nueva Terminal de Servicios Marítimos Auxiliares del Sector Pacifico" and the study indicates that the investment amount is $5,671,000.

Kristel Alexia Dorion Ferber de Bost submitted an EIA to build in area 8 of the municipality of San Miguel Petapa, department of Guatemala, 12 office warehouse spaces, each with different measurements, made with metal frames and metal roofs. The project is called "Centro Logístico San Miguel Petapa" and the document indicates that the investment will be amount to $3,481,409.

A & L M Industrial Cartago S.A. submitted an EIA to build, in the district of San Nicolas, Cartago, 46 multipurpose warehouses each with 2 levels and additional infrastructure such as streets, sidewalks, parking lots, a wastewater treatment plant, detention pond, green areas and gardens. The project is called "Ofi Bodegas La Lima" and the study indicates that the investment amount is $2,800,000.

Inversiones Chevron Sociedad Anónima submitted an EIA to build, in the terminal in Acajutla, Sonsonate, El Salvador, expansion of the storage capacity of the Maritime Terminal at Acajutla. The project is called "Expanding the storage capacity of the Maritime Terminal at Acajutla Chevron Fourth Stage".

Central America: $150 Million in Logistics Parks

In the last year 69 environmental impact studies were submitted in countries in the region to build industrial warehouses and logistics parks.

$45 million Logistics Park

June 2017

In a 13-hectare site in the province of Colón, Panama, a logistics park consisting of 5 buildings measuring 5,000 square meters each will be built.
