Tender for Advertising on Panama Metro

The Secretary of the Metro announced that starting 2015 the trains and stations on Line 1 will have advertising spaces that will be offered through competitive tenders.

Following the example of Hong Kong and Singapore, the Secretariat of the Metro will make available advertising space in stations and on trains, from which it expects to receive $25.2 million and will use some of those funds to pay for fare subsidies.

The Finance Director of the Secretariat of the Panama Metro, Julio Marquínez told Prensa.com that "... This will become part of the general budget of the Metro Department and, therefore, will help to minimize the cost of fare subsidies, which by 2016 could be about $26 million. "

Metro Secretary and Minister for Canal Affairs, Roberto Roy, added that "... It does not mean that there will be ads everywhere, but spaces will be made or screens will be used inside installations in the system."
