Panama to Tender Water Supply Projects

The National Development Council will receive bids for four projects on water supply lines and improvements in the capital and San Miguelito on June 4th.

The process will follow the criteria of best value by separate assessment for the Project ‘Study, Design, Construction, Equipment and Implementation of Improvements and Extension to the Sustainable Aqueduct Systems.

"The works being tendered will aim to improve services in the district capital and San Miguelito, by building new distribution lines and making improvements to existing networks," reports Panamaamerica.com.

The first project will be located in Costa del Este up to the exit for Ciudad Radial, with the installation of 5.2 kilometers of 16 inch pipes. It also includes filling, demolition and replacement of pavement, interconnections, valves and macro measurer.

Water Supply Works for $288 million

The Panamanian government will most likely award contracts to Odebrecht,Meco-Transcaribe Trading, and Meco-MCM to improve the water supply in Panama and San Miguelito.

If there are no complaints, the $157.8 million contract to Odebrecht will be confirmed, along with one of $33.9 million for the consortium-Meco Transcaribe Trading and a third worth $96.5 million for the M2 consortium formed by Meco and MCM.
