Substation Construction Tender for $9.8 million

The Electricity Transmission Company of Panama is putting out to tender the supply and construction of a 230KV substation in El Higo.

The El Higo substation will be built in the village of El Higo, district of San Carlos, Panama Province and the same will be located approximately 101.5 miles from Panama City.

In this substation almost half the existing 230-3B and 230-4B lines, which currently connected to each other and the existing substations Chorrera y Llano Sánchez 1, will be partitioned.

This project includes among other things the following works:

1. Associated Civil Works

2. Supply, Transportation, Installation, Testing, Commissioning and Implementation of Electromechanical Equipment, Protective Equipment, and Communication teleprotection and structures for the new 230 kV substation El Higo.

3. Supply, Transportation, Installation, Testing, Commissioning and Implementation of Protective Equipment, teleprotection and Communication in the existing substations, Chorrera and Llano Sanchez 1.

4. Sectionalizing the existing transmission lines 230 kV: CV - Llano Sanchez 1, 230-3B and CV - Llano Sanchez 1, 230-4B.

Panama's Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica S.A. is putting out to tender the design, supply and construction and financing of the third transmission line passing through Veladero - Llano Sanchez - Chorrera - Panama.

Huge Fine for Blackout in Panama

The financial penalty for Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica S.A. could climb up to $20 million if the ruling deems it responsible for the massive disruption of the electricity supply.

Prensa.com reports that "after completion of the investigation on the national blackout last Monday, February 25, the National Authority of Public Services (ASEP) may impose a fine that could reach up to $20 million, said the general manager of the entity, Zelmar Rodriguez. Damage to the two distribution lines located in Puerto Gago, Cocle province, produced the national blackout ".

Panama: Tender for Works on Electric Substations for $4.6 million

The Electricity Transmission Company has put out a tender for construction works on Substation Chorrera and Substation Sáchez Llano.

The contract includes the construction of extensions to the 230kV and 34KV yards at Substation Chorrera and the 230kV and 115kV yards at Substation Sáchez Llano.
