Tender: $100 million Urban Improvements

The Mayoral office of Panama is putting out to tender studies, design, supplies and construction of the works on urban improvements to revitalize public spaces.

The works on walkways are to be implemented in the following public places:

-Via España, section: Via Porras Justo Arosemena Ave.
-From Ave. Justo Arosemena, section: Via España -Metro Station 5 de Mayo
-From Central Ave, section: Plaza 5 de Mayo-Plaza Santa Ana
-From Avenida Ecuador, section: Ave Balboa-Basilica Don Bosco.
-Improvements to Plazas 5 de Mayo, Santa Ana and Belisario Porras Park.

Works needed for the construction phase:

-Creation of topography of area involved (Current Situation)
-Demolition of existing sidewalks on both sides along the edges of the aforementioned roads.
-Removal of debris and transfer to authorized deposits of materials from demolitions and excavations.
-Supply and installation of paving stones along the main roads, according to details
- Geometric improvements to existing parking lots, taking into consideration the widening of sidewalks on these.
-Underground electrical works, telecommunications and lighting.
-Supply and installation of road and pedestrian lights. In the case of Central Avenue and squares, they must be similar posts and lanterns to those in the Old Town
-Provision of outdoor furniture (benches, trash cans, bollards, public telephones, bicycle stands, etc.)
Green areas and tree strips in the centre and edges of roads.
-Inspections and cleaning of stormwater drainage system.
-Repair and replacement, where appropriate, of catch basins in storm drain system.
-Replacement of asphalt on the stretch on Ave Ecuador, on the stretch between the Plaza Belisario Porras and Don Bosco Basilica and urgent patching on sections that merit it in Via España, and Justo Arosemena Avenue. "

Panama: Urban Improvement Tender Resumed

The Public Procurement Directorate has dismissed the claims submitted by two bidders and lifted the suspension of the public act for $99 million to improve the Via España.

The Directorate General of Public Procurement (DGCP) has resumed the tender process for the study, design, procurement and construction works to improve Via España. Eduardo Corro, director general of the DGCP, ordered through resolution DF-224-206 the lifting of the suspension of the public event organized by the City of Panama for the construction of sidewalks in downtown areas of the capital, at an estimated cost of $99 5 million, reported Prensa.com.

Panama: Tender for Urban Improvement Suspended

An appeal has been made against proposals put forward by Odebrecht and Centralvías EP in the tender to improve Via España, for $99 million, due to alleged noncompliance with the specifications.

The Directorate General of Public Procurement in Panama has suspended the tender process for the study, design, procurement and construction of urban intervention works for the revitalization of public space. The entity received a complaint filed by Consorcio Espacios Públicos Vía España (Meco, SA and Rodsa, SA), reported Prensa.com.
