Las Tablas Highway Construction Begins in Panama
The Ministry for Public Works has given Constructora Meco the order to proceed with the $74 million project.

The works will benefit the 24,000 inhabitants of the Los Santos province, located south west of the Panamanian capital on Azuero Peninsula. They will begin in the outskirts of Panama City and end in Las Tablas, the province's capital.
Proposals to build a 50.6 km expansion of the Inter-American highway range between $75 and $182 million.
Construction company CUSA was awarded the construction of the highway between David and Boquete, and Meco won the contract to build the link between La Villa and Las Tablas.
Just two companies, “Constructora Urbana” (Cusa) and “FCC Construcción” (FCC) submitted bids to build the highway between Boquete and David.
Transcaribe Trading S.A. will be responsible for widening the Arraiján-La Chorrera highway to six lanes.
