Investment for San Lorenzo Port in Honduras

Southern business persons announced their interest in directing their imports and exports via the port in San Lorenzo at a meeting with the manager of the National Port Company.

Roberto Babun, manager of the National Port Company,said that the Company has made a significant investment of more than $12 million in dredging works on the access channel and at the docks and berths, in order to strengthen the port's functionality. They will also provide more equipment, such as the rental of a light crane, assigning a towboat, terminal tractors and loaders.

Improvements in Tourist Dock in Nicaragua

The National Port Company has announced it will invest $5 million in the modernization of the tourist port of San Jorge, on Lake Nicaragua.

From a statement issued by the National Port Authority:

The CEO of the National Port Authority said the project at the Port of San Jorge includes expanding the current breakwater, making another breakwater parallel to it measuring 350 meters long, and dredged to a depth of five meters so that there will not be any further problems with sedimentation.

Possibility of New Ports in Panama

Officials are considering building new ports in response to the high number of shipping companies which looking to base themselves in the country.

Roberto Linares, Minister of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), told the press that they are working on the construction of other ports.
