Inflation trending lower in Nicaragua

The consumer price index fell 0.02% in October, even though the accumulated rate for the year is at 13.95%, according to figures from the BCN released on Monday.

The inflation rate continued the "downward trend" with a slight decrease recorded for the first time this year due to the drop in the price of fuels both for vehicular and home use. This is related to the drop in the international price of petroleum, the report indicated.

In June, the consumer price index recorded a drop of 0.10%, accumulating inflation of 2.06% so far this year.

From a report by the Central Bank of Nicaragua: 

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a monthly variation of -0.10 percent (-0.02% in June 2015), mainly explained by the performance of prices of some goods and services in the divisions of Food and non alcoholic beverages (-0.79%), Communications (-1.28%), and Recreation and culture (-0.31%), which together contributed -0.334 percentage points to the observed variation. In contrast, in the division of Housing, water electricity, gas and other fuels there was a variation of 0.97 percent (0.082 pp).

Nicaragua: Inflation to August was 3.99%

September 2013

The general level of the consumer price index in August had a variation of 0.51%, while in the same period of 2012 it was 0.25%.

Nicaragua: Inflation in June was 3.79%

July 2013

The General level of the consumer price index in June had a variation of 0.18%, 0.34% less than the same period in 2012.

The national CPI increased by 0.18% in June (-0.34% in 2012), results by geographic area,​ ​0.20% in the rest of the country and 0.17% in Managua.

Nicaragua: Inflation in May was 0.99%

June 2013

The General level of consumer price index in May had a variation of 0.64%, 0.31% less than in the same period in 2012.

I. National Inflation

In May, domestic inflation was 0.99% (-0.31% in 2012), resulting from increases in Managua 1.11% and 0.78% in the rest of the country.
