Increased Port Capacity in Colon

The new 340 meters quay that the concessionaire Colon Container Terminal has started to operate has capacity to accommodate up to 22 rows of vessels.

Thursday, December 17, 2015

The dock required an investment of $150 million and has increased port capacity by 500 thousand TEUs, bringing the total capacity of the port to 2 million TEUs.

A statement from the Presidency of Panama states that "... With this dock, there are now four docks operating in Panamanian waters under the operation of CCT, a subsidiary of the Evergreen Group, a Taiwanese company, which has invested a total of about $700 million. "

"... Both President Varela Rodriguez and Yen-I Chang, President of Colon Container Terminal, agreed that the opening of the dock provided a step up for this Terminal, on behalf of the Panamanian economy in general and in the province of Colón in particular, which has strengthened its position as port enclave, without neglecting the focus on growth and the opportunity to redefine port logistics centers so that they may not only reach the top of the ranks, but stay there.
