Costa Rica – Uruguay Promote Tourism

On October 8th Uruguayan tour operators will meet with their peers in Costa Rica.

For the Opening of the Costa Rica – Uruguay Tourist Season 2010-2011, authorities from the Ministry
of Tourism of Uruguay, major tour operators and travel agents arrived Costa Rica on Friday in order to coordinate joint activities with their Costa Rican peers and promote exchange of tourists between the two countries.

The meeting will be held at Uruguay´s Embassy from 07 pm until 09 pm.

ExpoPerú Central America Generates Business Worth $18 million

Business deals worth for $7.6 million in Costa Rica and $10 million in Panama were made in the context of business meetings conducted in both countries.

From a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru:

The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Magali Silva Velarde-Alvarez, reported today that the ExpoPerú Central America, held in Costa Rica and Panama between 13th and 16th August, had sales worth nearly $18 million.

Uruguayan Companies Look to do Business in Costa Rica

A well-rounded group of Uruguayan businessmen interested in buying and selling various products and services will participate in a business meeting.

The rounds of negotiations will take place next April 23 and 24 at the Real Intercontinental Hotel in San Jose. They were organized by Procomer and the Uruguayan Embassy, and they are supported by Costa Rican business associations.

The economic slowdown in the United States is casting a shadow over Costa Rica's tourism sector. More than half of all tourists who visit Costa Rica are from the US.

The Costa Rica Tourism Institute is taking measures to head off a possible crisis in the sector. But not everyone is taking such a pessimistic view.

Costa Rican tourism grows 17% in 3rd quarter

The arrival of tourists to Costa Rica, most of them from the United States, grew by 17 per cent in the first quarter of the year compared with 2007, according to figures from the nation's two international airports.

The total number of tourists was 643,000 between January and March, 92,000 more than the previous year, according to reports from the Juan Santamaría and Daniel Oduber airports.
