Tax to Finance Occupational Safety

The Ministry of Labour has introduced a bill which would require construction companies to pay from $19,000 to $100,000 per project and which would go to the Fund for Occupational Safety, Hygiene and Health.

From News from Panama's National Assembly:

The Minister of Labor and Workforce Development (MITRADEL), Luis Ernesto Carles, presented on Tuesday before the plenary of the National Assembly a bill that which adopts measures in the construction industry, in order to reduce the incidence of accidents in the workplace.

This is a bill that seeks to safeguard the lives of workers, occupational hygiene and to require all construction companies in the country to comply with labor obligations.

"We want no more deaths in construction or construction accidents," said the head of the Ministry of Labour.

Authorities Suspend Condominium Construction

January 2020

Arguing that breaches of occupational safety standards were detected, authorities in El Salvador decided to temporarily suspend the construction of the residential tower called "Condominios 105."

The suspended work consists of the construction of a 15-level apartment tower, which is in San Salvador at Paseo General Escalon and 105 Avenida Sur.

Guatemala: Seminar on Industrial Safety

On January 30th a seminar will be held in Guatemala City on changes in regulations concerning health and safety.

In order for entrepreneurs, managers, HR managers and the general public to be aware of the rules on Health and Safety in addition to the national and international regulations which come into effect in February 2015, a seminar will be held January 30 2015 on the New Regulations on Health and Safety Industrial (Government Agreement 229-2014) organized by the School of Foreign Trade at AGEXPORT.
