Honduras Tenders Database for Number Portability

Conatel has put out to public consultation a project for a network identification codes for number portability, which will include all the numbers assigned by telephone companies in the country.

The project specifications state that the code will allow identification of service providers networks for purposes of cell phone portability, allowing users to retain their number even if they change company.

The National Telecommunications Commission (CONATEL) informs the operators of fixed AND telephony services and Mobile, Traders Sub-Operator Type, to all stakeholders and the general public that the following draft resolutions Regulations:

Of the 752,952 customers who in the past five years migrated from one provider to another in search of better quality and service, 94% correspond to mobile phones.

Five years after the implementation of Number Portability in Panama, figures show that to date 752,952 customers have migrated from one provider to another looking for a better quality of service and the best deals.

Three Years Since Number Portability in Panama

Since its implementation, the number of mobile phone users who have switched operators amounts to 340,000 and in the case of fixed telephony, to 34,000.

From a statement issued by the Public Services Authority of Panama (ASEP):

Three years after its implementation, the number of mobile phone users who have successfully completed the transaction and benefited from Number Portability amounts to 339,000, while for fixed telephony successful transfers total 33,706.

Honduras: Number Portability Awarded to Norwegian Company

Systor International will be responsible for managing the porting process, which will be funded by operators of frequencies for mobile phones.

Authorities from the National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel), as well as executives from the mobile operators Tigo, Claro and Hondutel confirmed that the Norwegian company Systor International will is responsible for the operation, administration and management of the central database for the number portability process.
