Honduras: 50 MW Wind Farm

The company Vientos de Electrotecnia has started testing its wind turbines at the plant in San Marcos, Choluteca, and projects that the formal start of operations will be in the first half of December.

With a total investment of $140 million the wind farm in San Marcos will produce 50MW using 25 wind turbines of 2 MW each.

The manager of the San Marcos Wind Farm, Jose Moran told Latribuna.hn that "... In the first half of December, we will put into operation 25 wind turbines, which currently are in a trial period in order to ensure reliable operation of the machines according to the design parameters. "

'... Moran said ... The project is the first in the southern zone, but similar developments have not been ruled out in San Marcos de Colon because of the excellent wind conditions. "

Panama granted "Unión Eólica Panameña" licenses to install, operate and exploit 4 wind power farms.

The public services authority of Panama granted the company provisional licenses to install, operate and exploit the wind farms called Nuevo Chagres, Portobelo Ballestillas, Marañón and Rosa de los Vientos, capable of 42.5, 59.5, 850 and 194 MW, respectively.
