Honduras: Optimism Over Cruise Season

The arrival of 1.2 million cruise passengers is expected to Roatan between November and March 2017, and daily per capita expenditure made during their stay is estimated at $80.

Authorities at the Honduran Institute of Tourism anticipate that the figures for the 2016-2017 season will exceed those achieved in the previous season, which was rated as "satisfactory".

Alex Gomez, manager of Town Center, one of the two cruise terminals in Roatan, predicted that if the pace seen so far keeps up, "..."a lot of money will come in during the season. We are 28% higher than the 2015-2016 season, those are the projections we have'."

His director, Emilio Silvestri, told Laprensa.hn that "... 'They are getting between 10 and 12 cruises a week now, and ... the expectations [are high] for November, December, January, February and March and even April. "

In February 88,000 Tourists to Land in Roatan

During this month a total of 37 cruise ships will dock in the ports of Roatan and Mahogany Bay, each which will be carrying between 2000 and 3000 tourists.

As occurred in January, February will be another busy month for tourism in Roatan, the Bay Islands with the arrival of more than 88,000 cruise ship passengers, on board 37 ships which will dock every day at the ports of Roatan and MahoganyBay, said authorities from the Secretariate and Honduran Tourism Institute.

Florida Caribbean Cruise Association to Visit Honduras
