Once the contract has been awarded a new process will begin to contract the company that will carry out the construction work.
The National Electric Energy Company (ENEE) will build its new headquarters with a loan from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).
Bids submitted for providing 250 MW of renewable energy will be opened on December 15th.
With financial support from the Colombian Union of Energy Workers, ENEE employees could take over the company's distribution network.
International lending agencies have warned about the unsustainability of the company’s financial situation, whose losses have been described as "outrageous".
