Honduras: Melon and Watermelon Exports Up 10%

At the XVII International Congress of Producers and Exporters of Melon and Watermelon held in Tela, Honduras, the head of the Honduran Federation of Agricultural Exporters (FPX), Medardo Galindo, indicated that the world financial crisis and internal political conflict had not affected the pace of exports.

"The traditional markets for Honduran melon and watermelon exporters are the USA and Europe, which are also important markets for Mexico, Costa Rica and Guatemala," writes Tiempo.hn.

The price for a box of melons in presentation of 24 pounds was $13, a box of watermelon weighing 37 pounds cost $16, while a sack of pumpkins weighing 45 pounds was sold in international markets at $12.
