In September 2019, monthly inflation -measured through the variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI)- was 0.15%. The Central Bank of Honduras reported that the above is explained by the increase in the prices of rental housing and some services for its maintenance, medicines and health services, counteracted by the reduction in the prices of fuels and some food products.

The report states that "... The items with the greatest contribution to the monthly inflation result were: "Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels" with 0.08 percentage points (pp); followed by "Health" and "Hotels, Coffee Shops and Restaurants" with 0.03 pp each and "Furniture and Household Maintenance Items" with 0.02 pp. Other items contributed less. These movements were attenuated by negative contributions from the groups "Transport" with -0.03 pp and "Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages" with -0.01 pp.

In September 2019, the highest inflation occurred in the Southern region (0.61%), as a result of higher prices for health services and some medicines; in addition, the rise in prices of certain foods (fish, dairy products, eggs, papaya, watermelon, melon, jaggery) and meals prepared outside the home and different services contributed.

Minor increases were also recorded in the Central Metropolitan (0.17%), North Metropolitan (0.15%), Rest North and Rest Central (0.06% each) regions. In contrast, there were reductions in average consumer prices in the Eastern (0.12%) and Western (0.03%) regions, where the greatest reductions in the prices of some food products were recorded
