From the report on the Monthly Index of Economic Activity by the Central Bank of Honduras:

National context

Domestic production, according to the original IMAE series, up to July this year grew at a rate of 3.7%. For its part, the IMAE cyclical trend series showed a variation of 3.6% 3 /. During this period, the largest contributors to the result of the global economic activity indicator were: Financial Intermediation, Insurance and Pension Funds (1.4 percentage points, pp); Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (0.5 pp); Manufacturing (0.5 pp); Post and Telecommunications (0.4 pp); Trade (0.3 pp); and Electricity and Water (0.2 pp).

IMAE performance by Economic Activity

Financial Intermediation, Insurance and Funds Pensions increased by 7.9% (8.3% in July 2015), which was attributed to increased financial intermediation (8.4%) due to expansion in the financial margin in light of a rise in the value of income from interest received on the loan portfolio (mainly funds placed with trust and collateral) and a reduction in the value of the interest paid on deposits from the public; also from higher commission fees (especially on deposits, money orders and transfers).
