Honduras: Coffee Exports Produce $500 Million
Despite the financial crisis, the coffee sector is estimating more than $500 million in foreign exchange this year

The chairman of the Center of Coffee Cooperatives in Honduras, Dagoberto Suazo, noted that coffee consumption has increased almost 3% in the US and Japan, among other countries.
Honduras exported a record amount of coffee, 4.5 million sack (46 kilograms each), during the harvest that started on October 1, 2007.
At the end of the 2010-2011 harvest, the country exported 5.2 million bags of 48 kilos, 13% more than in the previous 2009-2010 harvest.
To date exports have totaled 6.6 million bags (weighing 46 kilos), 35% more than in the same period of the previous harvest when exports amounted to 4.9 million bags.
The 9 coffee exporting countries of the Arabian coffee exported close to 27 million sacks of coffee at 60 kilos each.
