Honduras: Three Power Contracts Endorsed

The Legislature has approved on their third reading contracts for wind power in a 3,615 MW project, an electrical project in La Ceiba and one in Colón.

From a statement issued by the National Congress of Honduras:

Congress approved on a third and final debate contract 70-2010 containing Annex 10, a support agreement to comply with a supply of 3,615 MW of associated energy from wind resources subscribed between the National Electricity Company (ENEE) and General Equipment Supply company S.A.

Also approved on a third and final debate was contract 233-2014, for power supply and electric power, sent by the Executive Branch through the Ministry of Energy, Natural Resources, Environment and Mining (Serna), signed by the ENEE and the company Renewable Energy Developers SA, for the installation of energy an project in the Atlantic, located in the city of La Ceiba, department of Atlantida at a price per megawatt hour of $114.14 and power base price with a value of $8, 92.

Honduras: Energy Contracts Still Awaiting Approval

Contracts awarded for the generation and sale of 250 megawatts of renewable energy are still being reviewed.

The Honduran Congress had intended to begin the first hearing of discussions on 18 August but this proved impossible due to continuing review process.

Renewable Energy Projects Paralyzed in Honduras

Entrepreneurs developing of renewable energy projects have their investments paralyzed and are now requesting the government to define the 250 MW public purchase process.

This public acquisition process started in 2009, and in December the National Electric Energy Company (ENEE) announced the participating companies, but the process has been stalled so far.
