Honduras: Expansion of Clean Energy Supply Announced

The sugar millers have announced the entry of new investments to expand the supply of energy generated by bagasse.

During the sugar harvest, the country has a potential to generate 300 megawatts. Currently only 126 megawatts are produced of which 100 are delivered to the Empresa Nacional de Energia Electrica (ENEE).

The executive director of the Association of Sugar Producers of Honduras (APAH), Carlos Melara, told La Tribune: "New investments are coming, the only thing pending is analysis related to legal certainty, one engineer alone wants to generate 30 megawatts with investments of 35 million dollars. "
