Honduras: $1.8 Million to Modernize Customs
The Customs Directorate (DEI in Spanish) has announced that this year it plans to revamp seven customs posts.

Miguel Mejía, director of customs revenues, told a press conference that in the short term the aim is to modernize the customs posts to enable them to provide a more flexible and efficient service.
Works include construction of the Puerto Cortés office which will be tendered during the first quarter of the year.
The government has reported that new buildings and parking lots will be constructed at the office of El Amatillo, in the department of Valle as well as reconstruction of the customs office of Agua Caliente in Ocotepeque.
The decision by the constitutional court requires either infrastructure improvements or a new premises and was positively received by the private sector.
A new customs office to be inaugurated in March 2014 will save commercial cargo 140 miles of travel to Puerto Limon in Costa Rica.
