Atlantis Group is negotiating with Citigroup to acquire the insurer SISA and the consumer banking portfolio in El Salvador, where it will seek to operate a management and stock brokerage fund.

Wednesday, May 13, 2015

The group, from Honduras, has operated in El Salvador since it bought Citigroup's 75% stake in the pension fund manager AFP Confia. Now it aims to consolidate its participation in the Salvadoran financial market with a brokerage and investment fund management company.

Regarding the group's investment plans in El Salvador, the president of Inversiones Atlántida, Anduray Guillermo Bueso told Elsalvador.com that "... 'The idea is to have a complete financial group. Sooner or later we will have a bank, an insurance company, such as we have in Honduras'. "

He added that "... 'There are other companies that are for sale, for example in insurance, in fact, Citi is still selling its insurance company SISA, we hope they give us a chance to have a look to see if it would be a valid investment. We understand that it is a well managed company, but we are not sure how they are planning to carry out the sale and promotion of the assets.'"
