HP and Claro Form Alliance in Central America

The computer maker and the telecommunications company seek to double the region’s internet penetration.

Under the terms of the alliance, the companies will market plans for customers to acquire computers and internet access services with special financing programs, explained Jorge Castillo, commercial director at Claro Guatemala.

Castillo added that 4 of HP’s computers will be sold at Claro’s stores with internet access included. Customers will pay installments as low as $6.

This program was launched simultaneously in El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Guatemala.

Starting this week the company will offer its own Internet connection service, after years of carrying Racsa’s service through its cable network.

Both companies, Amnet and Radiografica Costarricense S.A. (Racsa), landed an agreement under which each customer will decide with which company they want to stay.

Claro Opens 40 Stores in Costa Rica

The phone company America Movil has launched operations in Costa Rica, with the opening of 40 outlets.

Claro has begun selling its products and services in Costa Rica, with an extensive network of branches in various parts of the greater metropolitan area.

With various promotions ranging from discounts on postpaid plans to packages in which the phone is free, the company expects to earn a place in the recently opened telecommunications market in Costa Rica.

Claro Reserving Space in Costa Rica

The telecommunications company prepares stores at four local shopping centers.

Richard Taylor, Director of Claro in Costa Rica, told Elfinancierocr.com they have reserved space at Terramall (Cartago), Plaza del Sol (Curridabat), Multiplaza Escazú (San Jose) and Paseo de las Flores (Heredia).
