Guatemalan companies betting on call centers

Two companies detected an opportunity in the call center boom and are hoping to become the number one provider of the infrastructure that is needed by these centers.

Vertical (the Real Estate Division of Grupo Progreso) and Desarrollos Inmobiliarios Concepción are two companies that recently formed the Grupo Campus Corporativo, after identifying the opportunity to enter a new niche that is growing in the real estate market.
According to Jorge Villanueva, Project Manager for Campus Corporativo, both companies have a lot of experience in developing real estate projects.
Campus Corporativo also projects extending its services to all of Central America.

Call Center Industry Grows 23% in Guatemala

The sector closed 2010 with a 16.400 working payroll, 23% higher than 2009.

According to the Committee on Contact Center of the Guatemalan Association of Exporters, 75 companies currently operate in the country.

The article in "Revista Industria y Negocios" added that the investment is 41% from national sources, 41% from the U.S., 9% from Spain and the remaining 9% from India.
