Guatemalan coffee exports will grow 4.43%

Coffee exports will increase 4.43% at the close of the coffee season 2007-2008 in comparison with the same period in the previous season.

The president of the National Coffee Association, Christian Rash, said that, based on their projections, the coffee season, which will end on September 30, will close will a production of 4.8 million quintals (the equivalent of 100 lbs or 60 kilograms each) of coffee.

18% Increase in Exports of Latin American Coffee

The combined exports of the 9 Latin American countries have increased by 18.5% in the first eight months of the current crop.

Sales in all nine countries (Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Peru and The Dominican Republic) totaled 10.4 million 60 kilo bags, compared to 8.7 million in the same period of the previous crop.

According to the National Coffee Association (ANACAFE) exports for the month of August were at a total of 301,363 sacks (60 kilos each).

This figure represents a reduction of 48,294 sacks less than the same month last year, when exports reached 349,657 quintals.
Nonetheless, accumulated exports so far (up to August) for this coffee season which started in October 2007 grew by 4.3% in relation to the same period from the previous season.

Record exportation of Honduran coffee

Exports of coffee from Honduras have reached a record high of at least $ 568 million.

Between October 1st last year, when the 2007-2008 harvest began, and last Tuesday 4.3 million quintals (a quintal is the equivalent of 100 lbs or 60 kilograms each).

Salvadoran coffee exports increase 22.5%

Income from coffee went up by 44.2% in July, when compared to the same month in 2007, the Salvadoran Coffee Board reported.

According to preliminary reports from the Board, El Salvador exported 151,258 sacks in comparison to 123,493 sacks in July 2007. A sack is equivalent to 45.3 kilograms.
