The growth in export volumes and high grain prices internationally, are responsible for the increase in coffee sales in the first six months of the year compared to the same period in 2010.

This is the conclusion of a recently released report by the Superintendency of Banks in Guatemala.

The report reveals that the main destinations for Guatemalan coffee are the United States (39%), Japan (17%), Germany (10%) Belgium (8%) and Canada (7%).

An article in Prensalibre.com states, "The report also notes that up to August 31, lending to the sector amounted to $36 million, equivalent to 7.6% of bi-annual growth."
