Guatemala to Have Organ Transplant Center

The Taiwan government will finance the construction of a nationwide Transplant Medical Center.

The inauguration of this new facility, dubbed "Ma Ying-jeou” will match with the centennial celebrations of Taiwan´s political life, which falls this year.

Guatemalan Vice President Rafael Espada said "... about 40 doctors will be sent to the island for training at the Transplant Center in Kaohsiung Chang Kung," the article in Prensalibre.com reported.

Hospital Needs Ultrasound Donation

For the last two years the National Hospital in La Union, El Salvador, has been without the necessary equipment needed to perform ultrasounds.

Hospital Metropolitano Expands in Costa Rica

The medical facility will open, during the first half of 2011, two new offices in Tibás and Heredia.

Hospital authorities reported that only in medical equipment they have invested $ 1 million, and that the opening of the center in Heredia is planned for March.

"The medical center expansion will continue in 2011 - due to injection of capital made by Monte Cristo Group (owned by the Durman Esquivel family) when it acquired majority of the shares in September 2010," explained El Financiero.

$6.8 Million for Guatemalan Hospital

A radiotherapy center called 'Hope International' will be inaugurated this week in Guatemala City.

Betting heavily on health tourism, the center will offer complete packages, which include medical treatments, hotel, transportation and touristic activities.

"The health tourism sector is still growing in the country, even though it is difficult to estimate how much it generates each year", said Claudia del Águila, executive from the Guatemalan Exporters Association, in a Prensalibre.com article.
