Guatemala Buys More Motorcycles From India

In the first quarter of the year the Central American country bought $17 million worth of motorcycles from the Asian country, 70% more than in the same period in 2017.

Variation of imports 
Between the first quarter of 2017 and the same period in 2018, the value imported from motorcycles in Guatemala increased from $30 million to $44 million. 

For the periods in question, the value imported from China grew by 40%, going from $13 million to $18 million, and from India it grew by 69%, increasing from $10 million to $18 million. 

Origin of imports  
From January to March 2018, 41% of the value imported from Guatemala came from China, 40% from India, 6% from Hong Kong and 5% from the USA. 

India is the market of origin of imports that has grown the most in the first quarter of the last seven years.  In 2012 it represented 28% of the total import value, and this year the figure reached 40%.

In 2016, $170 million worth of motorcycles were imported, 9% more than in 2015, and the value imported from China and India grew by 6% and 9%, respectively.
