Guatemala To Purchase 800MW of Power

Empresa Electrica de Guatemala (EEGs) and distributors Deorsa and Deocsa are inviting bids for the long-term purchase.

The contracts are to begin in 2015 for a term of 15 years.

"In the case of EEGs, it will also replace the supply that is currently obtained through existing contracts, which will expire between 2013 and 2015," reports Prensalibre.com.

The target date for submission of offers is October 28 and it will be awarded on December 6.

Arguing that due to the pandemic it is not feasible to call a public tender, the bidding processes for 400 MW to be contracted to cover the long-term demand of three distributors were suspended in Guatemala.

At the beginning of the year, it was reported that before the end of the first quarter of 2021, the National Electricity Commission (CNEE) had planned to call the public tender in which 400 MW would be put out to bid.

Carlos Colom Bickford, president of CNEE, the National Electric Energy Commission, reported they expect to invite bids in the first half of 2010, and award the contract by yearend.
