Guatemala: Inflation Reaches 4.91% in January

The CPI had a January cumulative monthly variation of 0.83% and an inter-annual variation of 4.91%.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is the statistical tool used to measure inflation in the country's economy, based on prices observed in the referenced month.

Of the 26 products included on the Basic Food Basket, 17 raised their price, six fell and three remained the same, as of January 2011.

In January the consumer price index recorded a decline of 0.36%, mainly explained by transport and housing.

The Consumer Price Index for January 2015 stood at 117.64, registering a monthly variation of -0.36%, and compared to January last year the change was 2.32%.

The Consumer Price Index closed at 0.30% in July, with a rise of 3.19%.

The overall, most important results of July 2013 are as follows: there was a monthly variation of 0.30%, an interannual variation of 4.74% and cumulative variation of 3.19% .

The cumulative change in the period November 2011 to October 2012 of the General Index is 4.68%, less than the variation in the same period last year (4.93%).
