According to the Industrial Activity Index, prepared by Central American Business Intelligence -CABI- and presented by the Chamber of Industry, at the end of September 2019, industrial activity shows a positive recovery of 1.3%, leaving behind the falls registered in 2018 and part of 2019.

Although this growth is positive, it is still far from what was experienced in 2015 and 2016 where it was expanding at a double-digit rate. The peak of the index, which was 160, is 6% above the current level. If the trend remains upward, it is likely that at the end of 2020 will see this level re-recorded.

In a statement from the Chamber of Industry of Guatemala, the president said: "It is encouraging to see these figures towards the end of the year, we remain optimistic that 2020 will be a year in which we can improve the levels of industrial activity. Let us remember that the industry is responsible for over 22% of formal employment and, there are activities This is why this index is a thermometer of how the country's economy is doing."
