Guatemala: Five Bids for Electricity Transmission Network

Transportista Eléctrica Centroamericana, Instituto Nacional de Electrificación, Eléctricas de Medellín Ingeniería y Servicios, Fersa, and Mecanismos de Energía Renovable submitted bids to expand 604 kms of the electrical transmission network.

Initially eight companies expressed interest in the tender comprising of five lots, but the Ministry of Energy and Mines only received five offers. It is expected that on Monday the contract will be awarded for the works to expand the national electricity transmission network of 230, 138 and 69 kilowatts.

Elperiodico.com.gt reports that "... Although discretion is being maintained regarding the bids, it has emerged that the Instituto Nacional de Electrificación is bidding on lots C and D; and the company Transportisa Eléctrica Centroamericana, S.A. submitted bids for three lots. "

Luis Ayala, chairman of tender board, added "... The bids received will be analyzed and today it will be known if they are technically solvent. "

Guatemala: Works on Transmission Network Awarded

The company Fersa S.A. has been awarded a contract for three of the five blocks in the tender to expand the electricity transmission network.

Prensalibre.com reports that "...The total contained in the tender was 400 kilometers, of which three of the five blocks were awarded to Fersa. The first will cover the communities of Quiché and will interconnect with San Marcos."

In Guatemala an award of lots one and three has been made to Fersa and Transportista Eléctrica Centroamericana, respectively, for the works to expand the national grid.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) has awarded four of the five lots which are included in the tender.

Panama: Third Transmission Line Bids Opened

With a price tag of $234 million, Odebrecht obtained the highest score in the tender for the design and construction of a third power transmission line.

Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica S.A. (ETESA) this morning presented the results of the total scores for the technical and economic evaluations of bids submitted by Consorcio Interconexión Panamá and Constructora Norberto Odebrecht for the design, supply, construction and financing of a third transmission line Veladero - Llano Sanchez - La Chorrera - Panama, in 230kV and adaptation to the associated substations. Meeting the deadlines set out in the Public Procurement Act 22, the company with the highest score in the bid was Constructora Norberto Obredecht.

Guatemala: Three Companies Bid for Electric Grid

November 2009

Three companies submitted bids for extending the electric power grid in 817 kilometers.

They are "Interconexión Eléctrica, S.A." (ISA), from Colombia, the Consortium "EEB/EDM Proyecto Guatemala", and ETCEE, a subsidiary of INDE, Guatemala's National Electrification Institute.
