Guatemala: Electronic Customs Forms for Exporting to Costa Rica

Soon Central American Customs Order Forms for exporting to Costa Rica will be electronically transmitted .

From a statement issued by the Guatemalan Exporters Association (-AGEXPORT-):

The Single Window for Exports (VUPE) and the Office of for Active Conditioning (OPA) both part of AGEXPORT, revealed that the export sector of Guatemala will soon will be issuing the Central American Unique Customs Form (FAUCAS) electronically to allow products to be exported to Costa Rica.

The OPA and the VUPE need consignees to giving details in the FAUCAs to comply with the conditions required by the customs authorities of Costa Rica. The CR consignees registered in SEADEX Web will be verified on line with the Costa Rican authorities from July 1, 2015.

VUPE and OPA report that if they do not comply with the conditions the FAUCAS will remain inactive. Consignees are people, entities or companies who receive merchandise.

The Single Window for Exports (VUPE) through the platform SEADEX WEB is an electronic system for exporters and entrepreneurs to securely and quickly obtain authorization online for their exports.

Costa Rica - Guatemala Customs Procedures Streamlined

Since July 2 exporters and importers from both countries are able to manage online the Single Central American Customs Form.

With the online process the main change from the way things were done before is that information is now received by the tax authorities of both countries via the web, before the product reaches this point.

Representatives of public and private sectors in Guatemala are demanding the creation of a single process for import procedures, similar to that for exports.

Siglo21.com.gt notes that since in the country the “Ventanilla Unica” (single counter), also known as (VUPE) only works for exports, the director of Exporter Services, of the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (Agexport), Fernando Herrera, said there is a need to "create an Import Counter".
