Representatives from the Ministry of Communications, announced that the tender will include the design and construction of low-cost housing, and that the process will be published in the next few days on the Guatecompras portal.

José Luis Benito, Minister of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing, explained to Dca.gob.gt that " ... these houses are part of the one thousand that are planned to be built through the Social Development Fund (Fodes), to finalize the urbanization project that is expected to offer decent housing to people who lost their homes because of the onslaught of the colossus."

Regarding other works related to reconstruction, the official said that " ... This week, in addition, it is expected 'they will hold the contests to finish the cleaning and mitigation work of the Guacalate river, as well as reconstruction of two bridges (Las Lajas and Chile Triste) and replacement of the asphalt belt that was completely destroyed'."

Guatemala: $24 million for Housing Construction

V & T SA has been awarded a contract for the construction of a thousand houses, which will be delivered to those affected by the eruptions of the Fuego Volcano.

Social Interest Housing for $8 million

The Ministry of Housing in Panama is putting out to tender construction of 500 social interest houses in the province of Veraguas.

"Supply of materials, labor, equipment and administration for the construction works of five hundred (500) social interest houses, with PCH kits, as part of the Techos de Esperanza program, for the province of Veraguas, towns of Atalaya, San Francisco, Calobre and Santiago."

Panama: Relaunch of Tender for Ave Fenix Project

April 2015

Due to alleged overruns of $4 million the Ave Fenix project, valued at $13 million, has been canceled and it was announced that it will be put out to tender again.

The continued construction of Ave Fénix Project in the village of El Chorrillo, which will benefit the first 40 families who for years have waited for a decent home, will begin in the coming months, announced by the Minister of Housing, Land, Mario Etchelecu.
