Guatemala: $7 Million Urbanization Project

Catalejo Corporation will build an urbanization project with commercial, residential and industrial areas.

The project is known as "Condado de Santiago", and will expand 20 blocks in Coatepeque, Quetzaltenango.

Ricardo Estrada, project manager, detailed some aspects of the project to newspaper Prensa Libre: "... residential area of 42.000 square meters ... commercial area with 60 150 square meter stores ...".

New Logistics Project in Guatemala

Calidad Inmobiliaria announced that it will build in Condado Naranjo, municipality of Mixco, a logistic center of 72 warehouses distributed in a four level tower.

According to information provided by the project's directors, the new industrial complex will be called "Districentro" and is currently in the launching stage.

Growth has been projected in demand for warehouses, especially within industrial parks and a consequent increase in rent prices is predicted.

The forthcoming entry into operation of the expanded Canal and the Tocumen airport expansion are two of the factors that have influenced the projected increase in demand for rental of specialized storage warehouses in the medium term. In 2015 the rental price for warehouses "... remained above $9 per square meter, the average sales price in industrial parks amounted to $1,580.00 per square meter and class B warehouses at $935.00 per square meter."

Guatemala: Warehouse Complex Inaugurated

With the authorization for 20 commercial warehouses, the first phase of the Condado Santiago project opened.

Located in Coatepeque, the project combines residential, commercial and industrial areas.

Luis Antonio Solórzano Mazariegos, project representative, told Prensalibre.com "the geographic location is an advantage, as it is in the middle of three major ports: Chiapas, Mexico, at a distance of no more than 80 miles; Champerico in Guatemala; and the land port bordering Mexico."
