Guatemala: $500 million invested in Mazatenango

The Ciudad Luz Mazatenango project began in March 2008, and covers one million square meters; it is expected to be completed by the end of 2010.

Louisa Reynolds, writes in an article on elPeriodico.com.gt: "...this new housing complex will hav 460 businesses, a hospital with over 400 beds, at which the private sector will subsidize free care, and several high schools will offer scholarships to students with limited resources.

It will also have a water tax, a stadium, hotels, waste treatment plants. In addition to this, eight courts from the Judicial Branch will move there on March 1.

New Offices and Hotels in Escazú, Costa Rica

The real estate project "Avenida Escazú", to be launched in July includes the Residence Inn hotel, an area for movie theaters, shops and offices.

The Residence Inn hotel will open its doors in April with 100 rooms. In July, the first phase of the project, which includes several shops and 13 thousand square meters of office space, will be inaugurated.

Colonial Residences Project for $7 million

According to an article in Siglo21.com the developer is Desarrollos Integrales para el Progreso (D&P), which plans an initial investment of $7 million for the construction of community projects, which will give a colonal character to the entire project.

Three Companies Bid $95 Million for Curundú Project

Meco, Oderbrecht and Cusa are the three companies still in contention for developing the urban infrastructure project.

All three of them proposed costs around $95 million, from Cusa's bid at $94.933.650 to Meco's at $95.397.750.

According to Prensa.com, "Proyecto Curundú" comprises transforming some 160.000 square meters in the locality of the same name.

Increased Investment in Mountain Homes in Panama

Real estate developers are backing residential building along the central mountain range.

With an investment of nearly $14 million, the company Canion Properties Corporation is to build two new stages of its project Hacienda Los Molinos in Boquete.

"But this is not the only mountain residential project being developed in the country, in fact, in Boquete foreign investor Sam Taliaferro is developing the Valle Escondido Resort, Golf & Spa project, a resort style residential community in the highlands of Panama, whose main attractions are its location, climate, and topography, but this project is targeting international buyers," noted an article in Capital.com.pa
