On Monday, the Ministry of Communications awarded V & T S.A. the construction project, urbanization of the residential complex "La Dignidad", which will be located in the department and municipality of Escuintla.
The public procurement process, in which only one bidder took part, was executed in record time having been published on the Guatecompras website on June 25, with the reception of bids taking place three days later.
The contract consists of the provision of services for the study, design and execution of the project "Construction and Housing La Dignidad Escuintla, Escuintla", located in Finca la Industria, at kilometer 58 of the Road to El Puerto San José del Municipio of Escuintla.
Currently, 13,000 homes are built per year, however, to reduce the housing deficit in the country, at least 55,000 units should be built annually.
The Foundation for Development (Fundesa) presented the National Housing Plan, whose main objective is to establish actions focused on the promotion of the housing market in Guatemala.
Ingenieria Rec, S.A. was awarded the urban renewal project "Altos de Los Lagos - Second Stage," which consists of the construction of 1,620 homes on a 23-hectare site.
On December 12th, the contract for the urban renewal project of the City of Colon was published in the portal PanamaCompra, which includes a second phase located on a polygon of about 23 Hectares, in Los Lagos sector, Cristóbal neighborhood, Colón District, Province of Colón and which will be called "Altos de Los Lagos Project - Second Stage."
So far this year the government of Panama has called 48 tenders for the construction of 31,000 homes, worth $560 million.

A solidarity housing fund was announced by the President, when inaugurating trade show "Capac Expo Hábitat 2009".
Ricardo Martinelli announced the creation of the “Fondo Solidario de Vivienda”, which would benefit 1.500 families in its first phase.
The president also remarked that his government will continue supporting the Panamanian Chamber of Construction, and invited its members to take part of his social housing project.
