Peru's Grupo Romero will start operations in Honduras has announced that the Peruvian conglomerate Grupo Romero will start offering services in storage, transport and distribution in Honduras.

The estimated investment of five million dollars will be made through an affiliate of Ransa Centroamerica, Ransa Operador Logístico. Ransa Centroamerica is owned by the conglomerate.
Ransa already has operations in El Salvador and Guatemala, and plans to enter Nicaragua and Panama.

Nicaragua: Investors interested in western tourism

The hospitality, security and the range of tourist attractions in the west of the country has piqued the interest of more than 20 investors from Europe, the United States and Central America who participated in the Tourism Forum called "Invest in Nicaragua: Explore New Horizons!"

The event, sponsored by Nicaragua's Official Agency of Investment Promotion, ProNicaragua, and the Cuenta Reto del Milenio, aims to highlight the potential of tourism of León and Chinadega. The goal is not only to develop new tourism projects but also to create strategic alliances with projects that are already in place.

Nicaragua: Textile factory opens with American investment

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega took part today in the official opening of the Codeni textile plant. It was built with 100 million dollars of American capital in the municipality of Sandino City, 10 miles west of Managua.

The clothing manufacturing plant, which covers 57,000 square meters, will make jeans and related products. So far it has created 850 jobs.

New Free Trade Zone in Costa Rica

Costa Rican President Oscar Arias Sánchez and Foreign Trade Minister Marco Vincio Ruíz today inaugurated the new free trade zone of the east. Three multinational firms are already taking part: Teletech, TechDada and Countrywide Financial. They employ a total of 1,340 workers.

"Just last year we received 1.885 million dollars from this kind of investment," said Arias.

Grupo Gesfor opens its first office in Panama

Grupo Gescor, a Spanish multinational specializing in consulting and information technologies has opened its first office in Panama. It wants to increase its client base in the country and to work more closely with its established clients there.

A company statement says the new office will be coordinated by José Luis Chong.
