Grupo Calvo inaugurates its commercial division

As part of its expansion program, Grupo Calvo has opened a commercial division in El Salvador called Calvo Distribution.

Calvo Distribution seeks to be the leading brand in El Salvador and will soon consolidate its position as the second most important brand in the region, according to the commercial director, Valero Lecha.
The Spanish-based seafood company markets eight products in El Salvador. It also has operations in most other Central American countries.

El Salvador: 300 New Jobs at Grupo Calvo

Grupo Calvo plans to hire new temporary staff at its tuna packing and processing plant.

Company spokespersons reported that the company will try to make these jobs permanent, and eventually take the figure to 1,500.

El Salvador.com reported that the company plans to invest between $3 and $4 million this year in the country.

Grupo Calvo Expands Salvadoran Plant

October 2009

The multinational company invested $2 million in a new 2.000 square meters industrial warehouse in its complex at Port La Unión.

The project includes machinery for increasing production of tuna steaks.

"With this expansion, Grupo Calvo's total investment tops $140 million, generating over 1.500 permanent jobs", reported journalist Daniel Choto, for Elsalvador.com.

Calvo group opens regional office in Costa Rica

January 2009

The company will manage commercial operations in Central America and the Caribbean from Costa Rica.

Elfinancierocr.com reports: "The position will be taken over by the current manager in Costa Rica, Victor Perez, who for the last three years has been tasked with setting up the brand.

Calvo Group invests $2 million in El Salvador

November 2008

The investment will help to establish a new production line at the tuna processing plant which operates in the La Union department.

2000 m2 of industrial production line will be added to the plant's 19000 m2; the plant produces 220 tons of fish per day.

In February of 2009 they will have 100 new positions, thanks to the new expansion of production.
