Invoking Law 41 regarding multinational headquarters, General Electric (GE), is looking at setting up a regional office in the country.

If the project is put into action, the multinational would attend to all its operations in the Caribbean from Panama, devoting more than a million dollars to expanding infrastructure and increasing the return of workers.
Prensa.com reported statements by the president for Central America and the Caribbean of GE Corp., Ricaurte Vasquez, "... the international conglomerate plans to participate in a series of projects related to wind power generation, a lighting pilot based on LEED power (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). Additionally, the company aims to bring initiatives being conducted in other countries such as generating clean fuel and developing energy from waste bananas, etc... "
With an investment of close to a million dollars the multinational will attend to operations in Central America and the Caribbean from its new offices in Panama.
Located in Punta Pacifica the new site also has a training and education center, GE Healthcare, for the use of its health related product.
The German company has opened an office in Panama to serve its customers in the isthmus.
Marketing and sales queries by Bosch customers in Central America and the Andean area will be handled from Panama City.
An article in Prensa.com notes: "At these facilities the multinational staff will be responsible for promoting automotive products, renewable energy, packaging, construction and security for the region, said Helmuth Obilcnik, regional president of Bosch Central America, the Caribbean, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru."
Starting January Sony will establish a regional distribution center.
The distribution center will serve electronic parts for the Central and South American markets.
"In addition to distribution of spare parts in Panama-Pacific, these regional offices will market its core products for both regions: Central and South America", reports the article in Prensa.com.
