Fuel Prices in Central America

Average market prices up to and including April 22, 2009 for diesel and gasoline in the countries of the region, according to the Ministry of the Economy of El Salvador.

El Salvador has the most competitive prices in Central America and only Guatemala gives it competition, according to indications from market polls conducted last week across Central America.

Price of gallon of regular gasoline: Panamá $2.30, El Salvador $2.49, Guatemala $2.52, Costa Rica, $2.96, Honduras $3.02 y Nicaragua $3.04.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Economy of El Salvador:

The Ministry of Economy announced on March 28 that the reference prices for gasoline, effective from 29 March to 11 April 2016, will experience an increase in their prices, going up + $ 0.19, while a gallon of diesel will go up to + $ 0.07.

Price of a gallon of regular gasoline: $2.49 Panama, El Salvador $2.60, $2.62 Guatemala, Nicaragua $3.22 Honduras $3.26 , Costa Rica $3.78.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Economy and Trade of El Salvador:

El Salvador is in first place with the lowest gasoline prices and in second place for lowest diesel prices in Central America.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Economy of El Salvador:

Variations in international prices of refined products (gasoline and diesel) over the last few weeks have influenced prices in Central America, allowing El Salvador to be located in second place in terms of the lowest prices of gasoline, and second place for the lowest price in diesel.
