Finnish Company will Supply Power to Communities in Honduras

ABB OY signed an agreement with the National Power Company to supply power to 740 rural communities.

The agreement will improve supply and construction of sub-transmission lines and power distribution in rural areas.

CEO of the National Electricity Company (ENEE), Roberto Martínez Lozano, told Latribuna.hn: "The Investors have committed to provide all materials, fittings, conductors, poles, equipment, machinery, tools, accessories, skilled and unskilled labor, transportation and performance tests in accordance with provisions and specifications of the ENEE.”

Nicaragua: $14.3 million for Electricity

The National Assembly has approved a loan from the European Investment Bank to expand electricity coverage in rural areas.

The government plans to implement the project in 3000 rural communities in different areas of the country, including the Caribbean coast. With this investment in the power grid coverage is expected to increase in rural areas from its current 64% to 86%.

Tender for Rural Electrification in Honduras

The Honduran Social Investment Fund is putting out to tender the construction of a rural electrification project in the communities of Guaxinlaca and Pajapas.

The purpose of the tender is the "Construction of Rural Electrification Project in the Communities:

Lot No.1: Guaxinlaca, Municipality of San Andres, Lempira Department.

Nicaragua: $380 Million Rural Electrification Plan Announced.

The company Gas Natural has signed an agreement with the Ministry for Energy to make electrical energy available to 3,600 communities.

The $380 million initiative will benefit around 120,000 people and includes six substations and a 200 km high voltage network.

According to Sergi Aranda, Gas Natural spokesperson and project manager, the rural electrification program will expand Nicaragua's electrical coverage from 63% to 85%.

El Salvador to Lay 500 KM of Power Lines in 2010

In 2010, AES El Salvador will build 500 KM of electric power lines together with Fomilenio.

The joint program intends to deliver electricity to isolated populations in the north of the country.

"Fomilenio administers and executes a fund of more than $400 million approved by the United States to El Salvador through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC)", reported Laprensagrafica.com.
