Feasibility Study for Inter-Oceanic Railway

The Honduran government has signed an agreement with China Harbour Engineering Company to conduct a feasibility study for the construction of an inter-oceanic railway between the Caribbean and Pacific

Congressman and consultant for the Ministry of Works, Transport and Housing (Soptravi), Miguel Angel Gamez, said that "now we have to wait to see what the study reveals to see if it is viable and how much the investment amount would be."

"... The idea is to build a railroad to connect Puerto Castilla on the Caribbean province of Colon, with Amapala on Isla del Tigre, Gulf of Fonseca, on the Pacific", reported Laprensa.hn.

According to Gamez, they are expecting in about two weeks the arrival in Hondoras of a team of experts from the Chinese firm who will start feasibility studies and final engineering studies for what could be the construction of this railway.

The consortium K Group Inc. will conduct a feasibility study in Honduras for the construction of a railway connecting the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
