Exporters Affected By Canceled Flights in Europe

Guatemalan agricultural exporters are reportedly losing millions due to cancelled flights from and to Europe.

Many flights to and from Europe have been cancelled due to ash generated by a volcanic eruption in Iceland.

Some shipments have become stuck somewhere along the way, while others have not been able to leave Guatemala.

“European authorities announced today that they will progressively reopen a section of Europe’s aerial space. However, one potential problem will be moving those products stockpiled at the various cities. ‘We mostly use passenger airlines. When flights are resumed, passengers will have priority over cargo, and we could face problems’ said Tulio García, director of Cuatro Pinos Cooperative”.
