Nicaragua: International Coffee Conference Ramacafé

The Tenth International Ramacafé Coffee Conference 2011 will take place from 29th to 31st of August in Managua in the Hotel Crowne Plaza’s Convention Center.

The event aims to "Enable systematic meetings between national and international producers, traders and other members of the coffee industry in order to provide insights that will make coffee culture profitable and globally competitive, in a context of social consciousness and environmental sustainability, offering updated information, business opportunities, and the chance to make contacts and exchange of experiences so as to get better value, using a private business approach. "

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
1. To maintain coffee producers interest in implementing sustainable production strategies which emphasise the current opportunity to make needed reforms in the coffee plantations that may put them in a better position to face future crises.
2. To provide a forum for networking opportunities for business people to share experiences with other producers.
3. To provide participants with information related to the current coffee market and its prospects as well as informing them of the marketing strategies of major international trading companies.
4. Provide information and present innovative practices that increase profits, improve efficiency and profitability of coffee plantations and reporting on technology news.
5. Arouse the interest of producers on issues related to the diversification of coffee plantations and the importance of certifications for better access to markets.
6. To present some marketing initiatives for coffee quality and outcomes in different countries of the region.

Nicaragua: Coffee Producers Want to Improve Competitiveness

Coffee farms are being renovated in order to increase production and compete better internationally.

$100 million will be needed to put the coffee farm renovation plan into place, according to Henry Hueck, from the Ramacafé organizing committee.

With the plan’s implementation coffee planting areas would be renewed, benefiting the country’s main export product.
